Initially, the Opel company was engaged in the production of sewing machines and bicycles. Business development led to the creation of a factory in 1898 where cars were assembled. In 1929, the Opel automobile concern became the property of the American corporation General Motors. Today, cars are assembled at 4 factories in German cities, in particular in Rüsselsheim, where the headquarters of the brand is located. Assembly of Opel models is also carried out at car plants in Great Britain, France, Belgium and the USA.
